     Pollachi is a town in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Pollachi situated some 40 miles away from Coimbatore. This town is known for leading commercial center in Tamil Nadu. It is gateway rapidly developing tourist destinations like Valparai, Topslip, Parambikulam, munnar, etc. In addition it is centrally located between various others hill stations like Kodaikanal,Ooty,Coonoor,etc. that are only 3-4 hours drive from here. Pollachi is the nearest town to Indira Gandhi National Park and it exports coconuts and tender coconuts to all over India. There are several coconut groves and hence it is called as ‘Coconut City’. Pollachi is near to Western Ghats, it has a pleasant climate throughout the year. Pollachi is also termed as a trendy film location for Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi film industry. Therefore, it is also called as “Mini Kodambakkam”. It has a big market for agricultural products which is the main occupation of India. There are several notorious tourist spots in and around Pollachi.

     Valparai (Tamil: ????????) is a Municipality in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Valparai is located 3,500 feet above sea level on the Anaimalai Hills range of the Western Ghats.Valparai is at a distance of 95 km from Coimbatore. Valparai remains relatively undisturbed. While major portions are owned by private tea companies, large forest areas continue to be out of bounds to tourists. The Government of Tamil Nadu with the assistance of the Indian government has taken initiatives to promote tourism and develop infrastructure such as hotels and amusement parks to attract visitors. Valparai can be accessed either from Pollachi, a town south of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu or from Chalakudy, Kerala on the western side of Anaimalai Hills range. The climate is suitable for cultivation of tea, coffee, cardamom and cinchona. The region is also a rich elephant tract and is known to have many leopards. The scenic drive to the town from Pollachi passes through the Indira Gandhi Wild Life Sanctuary noted for elephants, boars, lion-tailed macaques, gaur, spotted deer, sambar, and Giant Squirrels. The area is also rich in birds, including the great hornbill. Water bodies at Monkey falls and Aliyar Dam are also seen en route. A famous place of worship, Balaji Temple also attracts pilgrims. On Saturday and Sunday each week, a large number of tourists arrive to worship Balaji temple. Bus, taxi and van facilities are available to visit this temple. Other attractions include the Peria Karamalai Tea Industries, Sholaiyar and Nirar Dams, which are located at a short distance.

Anaimalai Masaniamman Temple

     Arulmigu Masani Amman Temple, often referred as Anaimalai Masani Amman Temple, is a highly revered shrine situated at Anaimalai, in Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. The idol of Masaniamman is very powerful one and offer blessing to all devotees who have a stunt belief in her. The temple, nestled amid grassland interlaced with criss-cross pathways and rivulets against the backdrop of Anaimalai Hills, is about 24 km south-west of Pollachi. It is situated at the confluence of Aliyar River and the Uppar stream.

Aliyar Dam

     Aliyar Dam was constructed in 1962 across the Aliyar river. It is located about 65 Km from Coimbatore and it is found on the foothills of Valparai. Aliyar lake receives water from upper aliyar reservoir through hydro-electric power station in Navamali and the Parambikulam reservoir through a contour canal. The dam offers some ideal getaways including a park, garden, aquarium, play area and a mini Theme-Park maintained by Tamil Nadu Fisheries Corporation for visitors enjoyment. The scenery is beautiful, with mountains surrounding three quarters of the reservoir. Boating is also available.

Monkey Falls

     The Monkey falls is an excellent and ideal outdoor travelogue, which is situated some 65 kilometers away from Coimbatore city and it is some 27 kilometer away from Pollachi . The Monkey Falls are the most famous and popular tourism spot. It lies on the foothill of Valparai. It is continuing waterfalls, one can relax their mind and body by taking Ayurvedic bath in this falls.

Athirampalli Falls
     Athirampallli Falls is near to the entrance of the Sholayar range is a place of great scenic beauty. Here, the water plunges from a height of nearly 80 feet before joining the Chalakudi river. This picturesque spot is adjacent to dense green forest, and is a part of Chalakudi River, 50 Km from Valparai towards Chalakudi, Kerala. This particular falls has been featured in numerous films and advertisements. It is also called as ‘Punnagai Mannan Falls’, since this falls have been featured in Tamil film ‘Punnagai Mannan’. The phase "Beautiful but Dangerous" is very much applicable here. Many lost their lives while playing in the moving water. So tray away from the water and just watch and enjoy
Sholaiyar Dam
      Sholaiyar Dam is the second deepest dam of Asia. Situated at a distance of 20 Kms from Valparai. The length of the dam measures about 6-7 km. It lies in the border of Tamilnadu and Kerala. This dam is constructed in Chalakudy river. The beauty of Athirappilly water falls and Sholayar dam can be enjoyed on the way to Sholayar.
Kadamparai Dam

     Hydro Electric plant at Kadamparai between Pollachi and Valparai is most worth seeing. Many wild species are found frequently in this region. It’s speciality lies in the fact that it is carved out within a single rock, which gives an astonishing view.

     Topslip is located in the Anaimalai Forest Range bordering Tamilnadu and Kerala.Top Slip is a national park and a medical plant conservation area in Annamalai hills. It is famous for its elephant camp and its wildlife at Kollikamuthi. It got its name during British era, as lots of its timber sliped down to the plains below. For thrill seekers accommodation is also available in a tree house. There are bungalows available within the Sanctuary in order to view natural sceneries and its wildlife.
Nirayar(Nerar) Dam

     Water from Chinnakallar falls gets collected in this dam. It is located in eastern side of Valparai hills 20 km from Valparai town. There are two dams, upper Nerar and lower Nerar which is about 20km and 15 km from Valparai.

Balaji temple

     Balaji temple is owned by the Peria Karamalai tea Industries. Situated in Karamalai. Very famous beautiful temple. Situated at a distance of 10kms from Valparai. Located amidst serene tea gardens, the silence and the climate prevailing here makes it an ideal place to reinforce one's conviction in the almighty. There is also a play area and a lawn for the tiny tots.

Chitti Vinayagar Temple

     Chitti Vinayagar Temple is owned by Jayshree tea Industries, Sholayar. The temple is situated in a beautiful garden environment and It only of 5 km from Valparai town. A statue of Vinayagar weighing about 3.5 kg is located in this temple. It is constructed with a single rock.

Loam's View Points / Sir Carver Marsh View Points

      Beautiful view point from where you can see Aliyar Dam, the surrounding mountains of western Ghats and the Pollachi town. This is situated in 9th hairpin bend towards Valparai from Pollachi. A statue of Sir Carver Marsh, the father of Anamalais graces this place, which is covered in mist most of the year, but when the skies are clear one can witness a breathtaking view of the Sholayar Reservoir.

Chinna kallar

     Chinnakalar is a geographically important place. It is the second highest rain fall area in India. Always found wet and misty. A greenish dense forest with tall majestic trees all along the road to Chinnakalar a pleasure to enjoy. There is a falls in Chinnakallar which sounds like a roaring lion.
